3 Stages of Abacus Mental Math



Now, most abacus mental math courses would have 3 stages to them (some can offer less, some can have more). And these stages are the following:



First stage- here's where the physical abacus is utilized. They get familiarized with each bead and its functions. They're going to get a deeper sense or appreciation of what numbers mean and what different equations look like.



Second stage- in this stage, the physical abacus is taken away and it's replaced by a paper abacus. Yes, that is an abacus published in a piece of paper. In this stage, they might move the abacus beads only thru their minds while taking a look at the paper abacus.



Third stage- clearly, this is the "real" abacus mental math occurs. In this stage, they can manipulate or calculate the abacus simply in their minds.
